A milestone was made yesterday 25th of October 2019 for the 6th Asian beach games, to be held here in Sanya in 2020. Just 3km south of Sanya on the southernmost hill of Hainan island under the Luhuitou sculpture, the emblem and slogan for Hainan's first-ever intercontinental comprehensive sports competition were revealed.
After careful professional selection by many well-known domestic experts on 19th of July 2019 the Organising Committee of the Asian games in Sanya finally had its emblem (shown above) and slogan ‘See Ya Sanya’(shown below)
The 2020 emblem is to be seen as a manifestation of the majestic island of Hainan. The modest colours used don’t seem so straightforward when you take a second glance and notice the sun... An element from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) or even the blazing yellow deer, a story that has been told for generations. The tale of a deer that transformed into a beautiful young woman on top of the 275-meter high hill. The cliff named after ‘Luhuitou’ in memory of the love story that once took place. The very exact hill the emblem and slogan were revealed on and that mesmerising blue man, what is he reaching for? Glory in the final of beach games? Or something more simple, such as a coconut from Da dong hai beach?
This isn’t just any old logo it is also an invitation for the world to witness the colours that seem too intense to be true and to experience this tropical paradise we call Sanya and our home.
The slogan for the 6th Asian Beach games was revealed as ‘See Ya in Sanya’ a kind of a play on words of our city name ‘See Ya ….. San ya’ but, in fact, it also derives from an old Hainanese folk song ‘long time no see, long time to see’ the slogan is simple and clear, open and honest. Easy to remember. Welcoming all that wish to come from all the corners of the world to share this significant moment in Hainans thousand-year-old civilization that is embarking on a new era. As we continue to harmonise and cultivate this remarkable city of Sanya to the new world. We strive that this event will guarantee the showcase of some of the most important developments made over the last year, such as The Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone and Free Trade Port.
A light show of over 400 drones displayed the emblem and slogan high above the city. Whilst the local folk songs played, a story was told in the sky.
So what happens next? Well, for the next 400 days the preparations for the event will begin and the emblem will serve as a clear mark upon history, as well as parade the first-ever intercontinental comprehensive sports event held in China. The emblem and slogan will be placed on displays around hotels, scenic spots and shopping malls. It will become something familiar to all 685,400 of Sanyas residents.
Once all preparations are complete the world will be invited to watch the 6th Asians Beach games from November 28th to December 6th, 2020.
